Diploma for IT User
 
For the award of a certificate, candidates must successfully complete the assessments for one core unit plus two optional units. The core unit has an online multiple choice test and assignments. The optional units are assessed by way of an assignment only.
 
Core Unit 
I.T Principles
The aim of this unit is to provide candidates with the knowledge to competently prepare and perform a variety of tasks using Information Communication Technology.
Prepare peripheral devices and hardware for use
Use software applications
Maintain directory / folder structures
Use the operating environment
Identify health and safety requirements
 
Other Units
Word Processing
The aim of this unit will be able to use a word processor to create and edit and check common types of documents ensuring clarity and readability. Candidates will be able to plan and prepare to produce new documents, use mail merge facilities, edit and check existing documents.
 
Spreadsheets
The aim of this unit will be able to use implement spreadsheet applications, design and create spreadsheets, to use spreadsheets to import and produce abstracts, and to summarise data with charts. Candidates will be able to design a spreadsheet to meet a given specification, create and test a spread sheet, link, import and extract data, produce graphs and charts and export and print spreadsheets.

Word Processing
The aim of this unit will be able to use a word processor to create and edit and check common types of documents ensuring effective presentation. The candidate will be able to plan and prepare to produce new documents, produce new documents, edit existing documents, check produced documents and save and print documents.
 
Spreadsheets
The aim of this unit will be able to access spreadsheet software, create and modify spreadsheets, maintain data files and to produce hardcopies. The candidate will be able to use a spreadsheet software package to design a simple spreadsheet, enter data, edit spreadsheets, modify cells and ranges of cells, save, retrieve and print the contents of spreadsheet files.
